How the mind works – Beliefs – Chapter four

Beliefs

Many of our beliefs are created by the way people relate to us, especially when we are children. Do these beliefs of the ego work for us or do they create problems for us? Sadly the negative beliefs strip us of our ability to be happy and to achieve what we would like to bring into our lives. These beliefs are not you. You were not born with them and they are nothing more than irrational fears. The positive unlimited beliefs tap into the true self and the negative limiting beliefs form our protection mechanism, the Ego.

Our own negative self-talk, and the use of disconnecting habits on ourselves, feeds negative beliefs. They continue to grow, self-sabotaging our abilities and achievements. What you believe you will see. And if you believe you will fail, guess what? You will fail. We are often so afraid to fail that sometimes we won’t even try. As a child did you fail to walk when you fell after taking that first step; or fell off your bike when you first learned to ride it? You didn’t fail: you were learning all the time. Making mistakes is how we learn. We are not perfect – we are in a process of evolving. We are evolving through the mistakes we make, and mistakes are a natural part of our learning process. The belief system becomes a filter in the way we see the world and what we believe we see.
